During the financial year ended 30 June 2023, the Water Institute continued to rely primarily on government subventions and student fees as its main sources of revenue. While the Institute maintained operational continuity, sustainability risks remain due to fluctuations in enrollment levels and delayed funding disbursements.

The audit recommends that management strengthens revenue diversification strategies, particularly through short professional courses, consultancy services, and partnerships within the water sector, in order to enhance financial stability and reduce dependence on a single funding source.
