GHANA WATER INSTITUTE DELEGATION VISITS WATER INSTITUTE TANZANIA TO STRENGTHEN COLLABORATION


Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Water Institute (WI) Tanzania had the honor of hosting a distinguished delegation from the Ghana Water Institute (GWI) as part of an initiative to enhance collaboration in the areas of training, research, and consultancy. The visit, which took place at the Water Institute’s headquarters in Dar es Salaam, marked a significant step in fostering international cooperation in water resources management and capacity building.

Dr. Zulkarnein Nashiru, Rector of the Ghana Water Institute, accompanied by Eng. John Nii Ahumah Leonard Koppoe, Eng. Mustapha Nuhu, and Mr. Evans Nkansah, led the Ghanaian delegation.

During the visit, discussions centered on key areas of mutual interest, including joint research initiatives, capacity-building programs, knowledge exchange, and the development of specialized training modules tailored to address emerging water and environmental challenges. Both parties expressed their commitment to fostering academic and technical cooperation, with a focus on enhancing sustainable water management practices in Africa.

The delegation toured the Water Institute’s state-of-the-art facilities, including laboratories, research centers, and field training units. They were particularly impressed by the institution’s commitment to practical and innovative solutions in Non-Revenue Water management.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Zulkarnein Nashiru highlighted the importance of cross-border collaborations in addressing the continent’s pressing water and sanitation challenges. “Partnerships like this pave the way for a more integrated and sustainable approach to water resource management. We are excited to work closely with the Water Institute Tanzania to share expertise and develop solutions that will benefit both our countries,” he stated.

On behalf of the Water Institute Tanzania, the Rector, Dr. Adam Karia expressed gratitude for the visit, affirming that the collaboration will create opportunities for both institutions to leverage their strengths in training, research, and consultancy.
